Structural studies of WNK kinase drug discovery and pressure and ion sensing mechanisms
A fully funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Elizabeth Goldsmith, in the Department of Biophysics at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. We seek a passionate, self-motivated, writing-friendly, and just plain friendly researcher with a background in structural biology, and biophysics, biochemistry, or chemistry. We are very excited about our studies of WNK kinases because of their central role in cellular homeostasis of osmotic and hydrostatic pressure and ions, and their status as drug targets in cancer and hypertension. The Biophysics Department has outstanding core laboratories in structural biology, including Cryo-EM and in other biophysical techniques, and professors using NMR spectroscopy. The environment is collaborative such that any of these avenues can be pursued as desired. UT Southwestern is a world-class research institution and medical center.
