Dear colleagues,
We have two immediate openings for Postdoctoral Research Associates at Oak
Ridge National Laboratory:

Position 1: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in structural
biology of enzymes degrading recalcitrant natural and synthetic polymers. The
Postdoctoral Research Associate will join a multi-disciplinary research team
that uses enzyme engineering and neutron/X-ray/electron diffraction to
understand structural features that determine activity and design enzymes with
improved efficiency. As an ORNL postdoctoral fellow you will have access to
state-of-the-art facilities for biochemical characterization and X-ray
diffraction, as well as access to world class facilities for neutron and
electron diffraction.
Applicants should have received a Ph.D. in biochemistry, structural biology,
chemistry or related science field within the last five years and should have
extensive experience in protein purification and biochemical characterization.
For informal enquiries please contact Flora Meilleur
(meille...@ornl.gov<mailto:meille...@ornl.gov>) or Josh Michener

Position 2: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to characterize
the structure and dynamics of enzymes immobilized on biopolymer matrices using
X-ray and neutron scattering techniques.
Applicants should have received a Ph.D. in material science, bioengineering,
structural biology, chemistry or related science field within the last five
years and should have experience in X-ray and/or neutron scattering techniques.

The project is part of the Biocatalysts Interactions with Gases (BIG)
international collaboration (https://sites.textiles.ncsu.edu/big/), with
partners at North Carolina State University (NC State), Technical University of
Denmark (DTU), and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The candidate will
join the Neutron Scattering Division at ORNL and will work closely with
collaborator and ORNL's Weinberg Distinguished Staff Fellow Dr. Yue Yuan at the
Center for Nanophase Material Science.
