Dear all,

here is an announcement for a cryo-EM specialist position at the Centre for
Integrative Biology, Strasbourg, France, to join an exciting structural biology
environment with many challenging projects. Please see below for a description.

This is also an opportunity to check whether the ccp4bb/em mailing lists work
again ;-)

With best regards,

Bruno Klaholz

Cryo-EM specialist position:
The CBI / IGBMC is seeking an experienced cryo-EM scientist to participate in
running the cutting-edge EM facilities at the Centre for Integrative Biology
(CBI) at IGBMC, Illkirch/Strasbourg, France.

The CBI
https://www.igbmc.fr/en/plateformes-et-services/infrastructures/centre-for-integrative-biology
provides a leading-edge scientific and technological environment in integrated
structural biology to address the structure and function of biological systems,
notably on gene expression, from the atomic, molecular to the tissue scales.
The platform for Integrated Structural Biology at the CBI
https://biostructure.igbmc.fr/ provides support for protein sample production
(bacterial, eukaryotic, mammalian cell expression etc.), characterization and
structural analysis using various approaches. The CBI hosts the French and
European Infrastructures for Integrated Structural Biology, FRISBI
https://frisbi.eu, Instruct-ERIC
http://instruct-eric.com<http://instruct-eric.com/> and iNext-Discovery
https://inext-discovery.eu<https://inext-discovery.eu/>.

The advanced cryo-EM facility comprises cutting-edge instrumentation such as
two Titan Krios cryo electron microscopes and a Glacios cryo electron
microscopes for cryo-EM and tomography, cryo Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron
Microscope (cryo-FIB/SEM) including for cryo FIB milling / lamella production,
and super-resolution imaging (dSTORM).
The Titan Krios 1 microscope is equipped with K3 & Falcon 3 cameras and GIF
energy filter, Volta phase plate (VPP) and Cs corrector,
the Titan Krios 2 microscope has a Falcon 4i camera, Selectris X energy filter,
Volta phase plate (VPP),
the Glacios microscope has a K2 camera and a Ceta-D camera for micro electron
diffraction (μED).
In addition, the EM facility has a suite of associated equipments for sample
preparation (grid freezing with Vitrobot and new Chameleon high-speed freezing
device, HPF etc.) and dedicated computing resources for image analysis,
processing and 3D reconstruction by single particle cryo-EM (including
on-the-fly data processing), cryo electron tomography (cryo-ET) and
fluorescence microscopy, and a dedicated opto-meca micromechanics workshop for
developing and prototyping new instruments.
