Our group is looking for a highly motivated postdoc with competitive CVs to apply for a 'Juan de la Cierva Formación' contract by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. The PhD thesis of the candidate must have been defended between *January* *1st 2021 and December 31st 2022. *The call is highly competitive and only candidates with *at least one first-author paper published in a high-impact journal *can be considered. The aim of the research is to study the impact of plastic on mitochondrial metabolism. Recent studies have shown the strong accumulation of plastic in all ecosystems, in plants and animals, including humans. Our idea is to analyze its effect in mammalian cells, in particular in the mitochondria, of which alterations have already been demonstrated. Furthermore, this work will be combined with the characterization of recently discovered plastic degradation proteins. We expand the information in the attached document.
