Dear community, Occasionally I deal with datasets for which CTF refinement in Relion (both 3 and 4) makes essentially no changes in defocus for any particle in any movie (example graph attached). Does this mean the data is not "strong" enough for CTF refinement or are there any know tricks to move forward? This particular dataset was at 4.1 A (postprocessing resolution) before the attempted CTF refinement, with decent CTF curves and map features corresponding to the stated resolution. The only parameter subject to refinement was per-particle defocus.
