Dear ccp4 and ccpem community, It's with pleasure and somewhat uneasiness that I am writing to the scientific community that has cradled my scientific career and where, I have questioned, communicated and on occasion playfully fought on conceptual issues. All this has only contributed to my growth and I am immensely thankful to you. I have been studying a case and would very much appreciate your inputs on this. This will help formulate key support initiatives for nurturing our future generation of structural biologists (if all our jobs are not devoured by some smart algorithm by then :)) 1. What should a response to directed attempts at terrorism, victimisation and inhuman cruelty by a pseudo scientific 'group' with added agenda on a young scientist be like? What is reasonable if this hooliganism and added attempts at subjugation threatens the career of a prospective future scientist, capable of making real contributions? What response is reasonable if added financial extortion, laundering and exploitation have been involved? Have there been any such incidence that you know of? 2. What action is reasonable if a subject is a victim of IP theft and victim of credential based money laundering? 3. What action is reasonable if added attempts at subjugation through provision of derogatory references and behind the seen fondling with employment of the subject is attempted with selfish motives? 4.What if fabricated defamation is attempted? Last but not the least, what if modern slavery in all its many forms, is brought into force ? I would be very grateful to receive your thoughts on this. p.s. Please treat this as a 'theoretical' exercise and please do not connect it to any person or organisation. Nasal flares will be welcome too but constructive suggestions will be very useful.
