The Department of Pharmacological Sciences (Pharm.stonybrook.edu/) at Stony
Brook University seeks applications for two tenure-track faculty positions
at the level of Assistant Professor.

The Assistant Professors will serve as the Principal Investigator and
Director of a laboratory that will focus on basic and/or translational
biomedical research in fields with relevance to Pharmacology.  In addition,
the incumbents selected will be expected to train graduate students,
residents, and and/or postdoctoral fellows in research methodology and to
participate in departmental and university service and our teaching mission
as part of the academic community.

Experience in any area of pharmacology that pursues fundamental questions,
in particular in the areas of neuropharmacology, infectious disease
therapeutics, chemical biology, signal transduction, or other topics with
therapeutic and translational relevance.  Capable of functioning as a
student mentor with strong organizational and administrative skills.
Excellent communication skills as demonstrated by lead and/or senior
authorship of published research communications in peer-reviewed journals.
Record of federal research grant support for established faculty.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have a PhD and/or MD (or foreign equivalent), at least
three years of postgraduate research experience, and an outstanding record
of research accomplishment as demonstrated by lead and/or senior authorship
of publications in basic and/or translational fields with relevance to
Pharmacology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in any area of pharmacology that pursues fundamental questions,
in particular in the areas of neuropharmacology, infectious disease
therapeutics, chemical biology, or signal transduction.  Experience with
grant applications.  Prior history of obtaining R01-level federal support
for established investigators.  Capable of functioning as a student
mentor.  Teaching experience.

provisions of the FLSA.  To qualify for a tenure faculty appointment, the
candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine
(School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
