The 60-minute session will consist of a presentation from *Dr. Lucy Collinson*, Head of the Electron Microscopy Science Technology Platform at The Francis Crick Institute, with time for a short question and answer session at the end. Abstract: In this talk, Dr. Collinson will introduce state-of-the-art electron microscope technology, and describe how they link light, X-ray and electron microscopes into multiscale imaging workflows to reveal how cells and tissues work in health and disease. Dr. Collinson describe how they are addressing the challenge of handling, analyzing and extracting new knowledge from terabytes of complex image data. She will also talk about the importance of community in advanced imaging, how we are trying to democratize advanced imaging to make it available in lower resource settings, and invite you to contribute to our understanding of transplant rejection through our citizen science program. *Register to join us live on Tuesday, February 25th or register to receive an email update when the recording and slides become available. * *REGISTER NOW* <https://events.nationalacademies.org/44536_02-2025_imaging-life-across-scales> Dr Lucy Collinson is an electron microscopist with a background in medical microbiology and cell biology. She has run a series of EM core technology facilities, at University College London and then at Cancer Research UK, which became part of the Francis Crick Institute in 2015. With a team of electron microscopists and physicists, she oversees more than 100 research projects with more than 60 research groups within the Crick, imaging across scales from proteins to cells to tissues to organisms. Where barriers exist in microscope technology, her team develops new imaging hardware and software solutions. Her expertise covers light microscopy, X-ray microscopy, electron microscopy, correlative and multimodal imaging, cryo microscopy, image analysis, citizen science, and microscope design and prototyping. Recent projects include the democratisation of advanced imaging technology and the use of advanced imaging across scales to understand transplant rejection. *A collaboration between the U.S. National Committees on: Crystallography, Chemistry, CODATA* * & the Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology* This webinar series is sponsored by Thermo-Fisher, Abbvie, Schrödinger, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory *FOLLOW US* [image: Facebook] <https://www.facebook.com/NationalAcademies/> [image: Twitter] <https://twitter.com/theNASEM> [image: LinkedIn] <https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-national-academies> *Copyright © 2025 National Academy of Sciences, All rights reserved.* You are receiving this message because you requested to be sent emails from Policy and Global Affairs at the National Academies. *Our mailing address is:* National Academy of Sciences 500 5th St NW Washington, DC 20001-2736 ######################################################################## To unsubscribe from the CCP4BB list, click the following link: https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/WA-JISC.exe?SUBED1=CCP4BB&A=1 This message was issued to members of www.jiscmail.ac.uk/CCP4BB, a mailing list hosted by www.jiscmail.ac.uk, terms & conditions are available at https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/policyandsecurity/
