*Research Scientist in Protein Sciences at ALPX*
*Position description:*
ALPX is an EMBL spin-off company located in Grenoble, France. We offer
innovative research services based on the CrystalDirect technology for
structural biology and small-molecule drug discovery to the
pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
We seek a highly experienced and motivated Protein Production specialist
to join the ALPX team.
The successful candidate will be contributing to a range of exciting
structural biology/drug discovery projects, and will be spearheading the
development of our Protein Engineering and Production platform.
Responsibilities include planning, development, implementation and
optimisation of Standard Operating Protocols for protein production,
from expression to purification, for quality control, characterization,
and construct optimisation. The position also requires strong oral and
written communication skills as reports are to be prepared and shared to
other ALPX Units (Cryo-EM and Macromolecular Crystallography) and to
clients.
*Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:*
* Ph.D. in chemistry, biology, physics, or a related field, with an
excellent track record
* Strong experience in protein expression in different organisms (E.
coli, insect cells and human cells)
* Deep knowledge of protein purification, in terms of techniques
(affinity, chromatography, gel filtration) and instruments (AKTA and
BioRad systems)
* Extensive practice in protein quality control (SDS-PAGE, Western
Blot, cross-linking)
* Experience in protein characterization by Mass Photometry, Size
Exclusion Chromatography, Thermal Shift Assay
* Team player with the ability to work on several projects in parallel
* Strong oral and written communication and organisation skills
* Excellent written and speaking English
*
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:*
* Proved experience in AI assisted construct design, gene optimization
and directed mutagenesis
* Demonstrated ability to work on challenging targets, such as
membrane proteins
* Previous position(s) in Industry/CRO/CMO
