Dear All,
These are indeed very sad and unexpected news.
I met Bill while he was a PhD student in Sung-Hou Kim's lab at UC
Berkeley when I was a post-doc there, and I was immediately impressed by
his congenial nature and enthusiasm for science.
We never met again after I left SHK's lab, but he was a frequent
presence here, sharing his scientific and technical expertise, and I was
indeed surprised that he had not contributed in a long while. Now I know
why.
He will be missed by all of us.

I’ve been asked to pass along the sad news that Bill Scott recently
passed away after a brief illness. I’m sure many members of this
community will remember his contributions to crystallography in
general and RNA structure in particular.
His last wish was no flowers, but donations in his memory to MECA (
Middle East Children's Alliance) for the children of Gaza.
