Hi, Correct me if I'm wrong, but the low resolution terms are primarily important in identifying the correct Laue group. Cutting out the correct range should result in failed indexing.
The suggestion to James' movies are great. I found these long time ago and they were extremely informative. You can try the same thing on 2D images if you apply a strong high pass filter. Hi Rafael, My favorite illustration of the effect of missing low-resolution data, which I’ve been showing at countless workshops and schools, is on slides 47–48 here: https://phenix-online.org/phenixwebsite_static/mainsite/files/user_meeting/2023_10_pittsburgh/3_Refinement_Afonine.pdf<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://phenix-online.org/phenixwebsite_static/mainsite/files/user_meeting/2023_10_pittsburgh/3_Refinement_Afonine.pdf__;!!MTWKpDe2aQ!Ib8_L7Jobk9D94POVI43iZG3Utz4LBV2gNIpFmGs0zFlcE6nffVsyDDKMR0iP8wB7BcEv7D_LRtXWkXlzf-BBxvSpO5MmQ5UUt7KMg$> where the absence of a handful of low-resolution reflections is the only cause for the map lacking density! So, I used iMosflm to create a mask that goes from the beam stop to more or less ice ring area. As a consequence, I could not index my dataset haha, which is quite good (1.4 A). I was wondering if someone more clever might know textbooks, articles or tips regarding data processing to visualize the contribution of these reflections in the map.
