Dear All, My colleague, Dr. Caroline Ajo-Franklin (https://cafgroup.rice.edu/) at Rice University (Houston, TX, USA), is looking to hire a Ph.D.-level scientist to join her lab immediately. If you know someone who may be a good fit, please feel free to share this opportunity or encourage them to contact Caroline directly.
"I'm reaching out in the hope that you might have someone in your network who could help us jumpstart our S-LATTICE project. Specifically, I'm looking for a PhD scientist with expertise in self-assembling proteins. If these proteins self-assemble at interfaces, e.g., air-water interface or solid-liquid interface, that would be fantastic! We have only 9 months before our first milestone, so starting quickly is essential. The grant's first goal is to produce defect-free 2D protein crystals of very large area, ultimately up to 200 cm^2. We're going to use surface-layer proteins to make these crystals; our group has extensive experience expressing, purifying, and assembling them. We really need someone who's up for a challenge, is available immediately, and has enough transferable skills to get up to speed quickly. I'm open to someone taking this on as a short-term project while they look for another position, or as a longer-term role.
