Dear fellow crystallographers,

I would like to draw your attention of the callĀ  for proposals for access to both MX beamlines, XAIRA and XALOC, at the ALBA synchrotron, open until the 7th of September 2026 at 2pm CEST. The call is for experiments to be performed during the whole year of 2027. Both beamlines run MXCuBE, data and autoprocessing results are accessible through ISPyB and iCAT.

Some specific features of XALOC:

 * Supports spine samples (unipuck) and plates, ISARA2 sample changer,
   Pilatus 3X 6M (100Hz)
 * Cryogenic and room temperature diffraction experiments
 * Minimum beam size 7x50 um (adjustable), energy tunable from ~5-20
   keV, SAD and MAD capabilities
 * Flux at 12.662 keV is 2E12 ph/s, and 3E11 ph/s at 6 keV
 * Unassisted, fully automated data collection

Some specific features of XAIRA:

 * Microfocus beamline, <5um beam size, 1.5E12 ph/s at 12.662 keV.
 * Entire end station in He environment for low background
 * Standard and native phasing MX
 * Fixed-target SSX is to be operative during 2027.
 * Supports samples mounted on SPINE-standard pins. Mounted with ISARA2
   sample changer.

Please also note that *serial crystallography* and *fragment screening* are now a reality at ALBA. If you are interested in more details, please contact XALOC or XAIRA Staff.
