This is just a reminder that the deadline for the 39th call for proposals 
(AP39) at Synchrotron SOLEIL is fast approaching - Tuesday 5 pm (Paris time),15 
Sep 2026. SOLEIL will receive both Standard and Block Allocation Group (BAG) 
applications for all 29 beamlines. More information on how to submit a proposal

As the beamline manager for PROXIMA 2A, I would like to extend a special 
invitation to those who would like to try out PROXIMA 2A, which is a 
micro-focus beamline dedicated to both macromolecular (MX) and chemical (CX) 
crystallographies. PROXIMA 2A has a variety of functionalities and equipment 
including UDC, GPhL workflows, humidity controller, plate screening, 
multi-crystal merging, micro-fluidics, etc…. If you would like to apply for 
PROXIMA 2A beamtime, please contact me directly to discuss your projects. More

PROXIMA 2A

PROXIMA 2A is a high flux, X-ray energy tuneable, micro-focus beamline 
dedicated to macromolecular (MX) and chemical (CX) crystallographies. The 
beamline features modern equipment for high-throughput and specialist 
experiments.

X-ray beam characteristics
- X-ray flux > 1e12 photons/s
- X-ray energy range: 6-18 keV
- X-ray cross-section: 10 µm * 5 µm, H*V, FHWM

Beamline equipment:
- MD3-MK3 mini-kappa goniometer
- CATS automated sample changer (9 cryo + 3 RT uni-pucks)
- EIGER X 9M area detector (4.2 ms per frame)
- Ketek X-ray fluorescence detector
- CryoStream & Humidity Controller (HC1)

The functionalities include:
- MXCuBE graphical user interface (on-site & remote)
- Deep neural network loop centring (MURKO)
- A variety of data collection methods
- Characterisation, Standard, Helical scans, MAD, etc…
- X-ray centring of crystals
