Right about the time that whole "computer for the rest of us" started...


an unreliable source, who was working in Apple at the time, said that it was being touted "for the unwashed masses, or at least ignorant rich folk". Somebody was smart enough to latch onto that and change it from third person to first person plural.
Using computer phobia to market computers was a smart move.
