Will things like PDAs and tablets, powered off and stored inside steel ammo
boxes survive?

wrapped in layers of aluminum foil inside a small ammo box inside a larger ammo
box?

In an ammo box buried in copper pennies? Back when they were taking copper out
of pennies, I stocked up on the all (mostly) copper ones... Maybe the small
ammo box would fit inside the larger one with room for pennies all around it.

if essentially all computers not in military hardened sites were kaput, even a
cheap (to me obsolete) tablet would be very valuable, right? And I am not
assuming a nuclear war. The sun has emitted bursts resulting in EMP on earth,
the last one was before we had much technology, but IIRC, it toasted telegraph
wires.
