From the US, the UK is (probably), in Europe ?

Beyond simply using US wire / sizes, and ignoring the definition of wire/cable,
the main things you can source in the UK are:

Tri rated wire
https://www.elandcables.com/cables/tri-rated-h05v2-k-h07v2-k-cable#ProductListing
 0.5 mm sq and up

UK MoD DefStan wire/cable
https://www.elandcables.com/cables/defence-standard-61-12-cable
https://www.elandcables.com/media/39719/defence-standard-61-12-part-6-equipment-wire.pdf
https://www.elandcables.com/media/38355/defence-standard-61-12-part-4-cable.pdf
eg the Part4 spec offers 0.055 mm sq (7 x 0.1 mm) and 0.22 mm sq (7 x 0.2 mm),
and Part6 carries on with 16 x 0.2 mm for 0.5 mm sq etc

Finally, tinned and enamelled copper wire continue to be sold in Standard Wire
Gauge (SWG) sizes
https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/swg-standard-wire-gauge-d_1779.html
eg https://www.rapidonline.com/unistrand-tinned-copper-wire-62485
and https://www.rapidonline.com/unistrand-enamelled-copper-wire-62484

And, for stranded wire the strands are usu 0.2 mm dia, 0.1 mm dia for the
smallest condiuctors

HtH; Best Regards

Martin

Subject: [cctalk] European wire size (slightly off topic)

How are small wire sizes specified in Europe? I have seen that EN 60228 defines
wire cross sections down to 0.5mm2. What about smaller than that?
Does the standard go smaller? Stranded wire must consist of smaller solid
strands.

Off topic, but perhaps edifying for all.
