Before CTP, we shot pasted-up pages with a big camera, and used that developed 
film to make plates. The film was punched after developing, with just 3 holes. 
The punches got dull after about 3000 punches and had to be replaced and sent 
out for sharpening.
You need German know how. :)
Zuse used that in 1941 on the Z3.
