On mentioning the name, it reminded me that I do also have a laptop that is called a Compaq Presario 1220.
I'm no expert about them - I keep it only because it is the only system I have with an original Windows ME install. I think it's also the only Cyrix processor I have. And while I *want* to like that laptop - it has a decent looking case - the problem is that the hard drive can't be replaced (and that it is only 2MB). The drive can be removed - but it is a strange interface, not regular PATA (and I don't think SCSI). The drive is a little smaller than a typical 3.5 inch size, but the pins are smaller than even a CF card. Its connector pins are similar to a 1.8" drive found in Macs - but any replacement drive I tried I was never able to get the system to boot. I had a thread about it here <50-pin ATA to 44-pin ATA conversion options | Vintage Computer Federation Forums <https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?threads/50-pin-ata-to-44-pin-ata-conversion-options.1242427/> > with images (of the drive). But it ended up being inconclusive and no suitable adapter found. Hope you find a home for your desktop Presario. -Steve On Fri, Sep 5, 2025 at 10:01 PM Van Snyder via cctalk <[email protected]> wrote: > On Fri, 2025-09-05 at 21:26 -0400, Bill Degnan via cctalk wrote: > > I don’t want it, but what model? > > I didn't realize there was more than one. > > The sticker on top and the badge on the front say SR1010NX > The sticker on top also says Prod #: DW254A0ABA > > > > > On Fri, Sep 5, 2025 at 8:36 PM Van Snyder via cctalk > > <[email protected]> > > wrote: > > > > > This might be the wrong list to ask, but here's the question: > > > > > > I have a Compaq Presario gathering dust in my garage. > > > > > > Does anybody want it? > > > > > > Shipping might cost more than its value, but local pickup is OK > > > with > > > me. > > > > > > Van Snyder > > > La Crescenta, CA > > > >
