It is literally for this reason that I have a USMAIL address - I simply tell the seller that I am in the USA, and provide them with my USMAIL address - the seller merrily sends it there, and they repackage it and ship it to me here in Australia.
There are a surprisingly large number of Americans who can't get their head around international shipping - and this works a treat. Yes, it costs $$$$, but when provided with the choice of not having the item vs having an item, especially when there is a level of rarity, I will pay for that anyday. There is one failure mode... if the item even looks like it might be on an ITAR list, then it gets sent back to the sender. I brought a very interesting antenna once - the xxx-yyy-01 variant with a TNC connector was in the ITAR list, while the xxx-yyy-02 variant had a BNC connector and was reasonably dual use.... They couldn't cope - so I had to get a friend to ship it for me.
