There is.  I've been using SNOBOL periodically for the last 25 years, 
having written some two dozen string-processing programs (e.g., an e-mail 
reformatter and archiver, and a control-file generator for Eric Smith's 
"tumble" program to process TIFF scans into PDF manuals).  Last one updated 
about a year ago.  Largest program about 2600 lines including comments.
