I'm not an expert and other people will , I assume, answer. But likely asbestos was present in one or more than one of the clients locations (if we assume a direct link vs any other external factor). Here in Italy the old Olivetti had serious cases of asbestos but the issue wasn't in the computers they manufactured. The issue was in the offices and buildings of the manufacturing/development plant
