Dear Mr Budi Rahardjo, and all, I feel the need to retell the story of how things has come to how it is now.
On April 1, 2005, I, Linga Hanawati and Devi Dimitra were present in Teddy office on Tulodong street, Jakarta. During the "briefing" given in what was meant to be a meetup session, after several minutes of showing off his new office, and babble how the office will become ISOCID office, he made the following statements: "As Chairman of ISOCID, I have sent official letter of support for APJII to take over management of ccTLD .id by means of establishing a new organization called Yayasan ID-NIC. Also, APJII has elected me as the first Chairman for this foundation, and I am currently in the process of obtaining blessing from Minister of Communication and Information Technology." And for the reason, he stated that "Budi Rahardjo is such an egocentric man, APJII has helped him many years in running the management of ccTLD .id and suddenly, he decided that want to take all the money for himself by cancelling contract with APJII and establish a new institution, thus we have decided that we should take over the management and create a new organization" (this statement has just been refuted on August 24, 2005 by Mr Sammy Pangabean, supervisor of APJII by stating that APJII has no interest in managing that new organization, and that APJII has no quarrel with Mr Budi Rahardjo) When I asked him, in my capacity as secretary, as to why he has been doing this without informing the members, his answer were "members do not understand about this stuff, it is useless to get them involved. even in APJII, everytime I ask people to discuss about infrastructure, they directly shake their head, uninterested" Therefore, I re-clarify the condition by asking "Is the person elected as the first chairman for the new foundation Teddy as a person or as chairman of ISOCID? Also, can you be assured that there won't be any problem in this matter? We should not make ISOCID involved in these kind of action. His answer were: "of course, the chairman will be me as person, and you are wrong about ISOCID involvement, we should be more involved in these kind of actions. Look at your education programs, how much money have you produced for ISOCID? Small stuff like that is not profitable and will never make it big. Right now I am busy with this matter, but as soon as it is done, we will have to sit and discuss which programs should ISOCID do and we will discard those unprofitable programs. Anyway, why don't you just become officer for education, seeing that your concern is only in the area of education?" I responded "Devi is officer for education, don't you even have the courtesy to recognize that ?" After that, all three of us make some excuses and we left. Now, Mr Budi, after that, I discuss this with Vice President for Chapter (James Galvin) and James Galvin made it clear that as chairman, he is entitled to do many things using Chapter's name, but it is also not unreasonable for members to expect discussions, meetings, and even vote, before he made any important decisions in Chapter's name. In this matter, I would like to quote Mr Robby's statement that "it is the means that glorify the end" and in this and many other cases, Teddy has obviously skipped the "means" part and goes directly to the "end" part. I am not aware of the IIX issue compared to the ccTLD .id issue, but the existence of such activity is proof that there are many things Teddy kept hidden from members, and this means he have violated the rights of members and behave as if Indonesia Chapter belongst to him alone. As for Mr Robby Gura, we know that he is a lawyer from Haeys group, and that he is also Teddy's personal retainer, therefore, we hope that he can provide good counsel to Teddy and advise him that being a chairman of an not for profit organization is totally different from being the chairman of the board of a private company. We all know that Mr Robby was the one who assisted Teddy in drafting ISOCID bylaws (even in haeys.com we can read that ISOCID is a client) and thus, we are sure that Mr Robby will admit and recognize that the fact that Teddy has not held any General Meetings during his three years of terms, and has refused to do so when asked upon, give the right to any member to hold that meeting. Furthermore, the meeting was held virtually, using a web program hosted in a computer located in Jakarta, the same town as the domicile of the chapter, and attended by 51,87 percent of members, thus this meeting was valid by all aspects, and it would be a gentlemanly conduct for Teddy to accept the result and agree to it. Keep in mind that the chairman position is currently vacant, and if he choose to accept the result, he will be able to nominate himself as chairman again in the next meeting (after answering some important questions, of course). James informed me that his decisions regarding ccTLD fall into grey area, while unsubscribing members without due process is considered a violation. I guess we have to agree with the grey area thing, because so far, nothing really bad have happened, yet. Hopefully, Teddy's technical support is as powerful as his ego because once the transition took place, he will definitely need that. Now, we are waiting for his final answer, and keep in mind that if the transfer of ccTLD .id domain management does take place on August 31, 2005, and something wrong happens that disrupt the service, and cause even only as much as a single complain, Teddy will hold personal responsibility for it, NOT ISOCID and certainly NOT ISOC.
