dttypes does not yet compile because it needs regexp.h style regular expression handling while I have regex.h But $LANG was a good hint - setting LANG=C before starting the X server (I'm using pl_PL.UTF-8 normally) make the front panel to appear and "dtaction ExitSession" worked (as well as normal logout).
