Are you getting:

    TT_ERR_PROCID The process id passed is not valid.

if yes, then don't worry/do worry(*) - ToolTalk works
fine, but this means that the application just launched
crashed. Look for *.core files.

With hostname in /etc/hosts pointing to an unreachable IP
address it took ages for dtfile to start and after this it
could not read any directories.

Watch ~/.dt/errlog, since you might not be getting all error
dialogs because you might not have a working dtksh :)
