Maybe some funny stty setting? What's the output of stty -a immediately after opening a dtterm? And does the output of stty -a differ if you do a "stty sane", and then stty -a a again? i.e.: stty -a > stty-a_1 stty sane stty -a > stty-a_2 diff -u stty-a_1 stty-a_2 Do you have screen or tmux installed? Does the corruption also occur when you run screen or tmux inside your dtterm?
