This looks okay so far. If the corruption occurs with TERM set to vt100 or xterm
as well, I'm running out of ideas.
Maybe some funny stty setting? What's the output of stty -a immediately after
opening a dtterm? And does the output of stty -a differ if you do a "stty sane",
and then stty -a a again?
i.e.:
stty -a > stty-a_1
stty sane
stty -a > stty-a_2
diff -u stty-a_1 stty-a_2

Do you have screen or tmux installed? Does the corruption also occur when you
run screen or tmux inside your dtterm?
