I am trying to set up CDE on a Librem13 laptop by Purism running PureOS

It seems that LANG from /etc/locale.conf is ignored. But if from
cde.desktop
instead of executing Xsession this is changed to startxsession.sh and
the latter
script exports LANG before executing Xsession everything works.
So if startxsession.sh has been removed how to setup properly the LANG
variable?
I am not familiar with this script - but all you should need to do is
set LANG properly...? dtlogin can do this for you.
I've alos experimented with various LANGs by setting it in my
~/.dtprofile script.
Moreover, some solution with HiDPI must be found. I have tried several
options with xrandr I found around the internet but none has worked.
Actually this issue is the only one that forces me not using CDE on my
laptop.
Most modern laptops have high resolution monitors and CDE can't be used
with them. Everything is too tiny.
Yeah... help is welcome there. As I see it there are two main issues:
- We need to get XFT/Unicode fonts working in CDE. I know Peter has
done some experimenting there, but I've had little success. Really,
sticking with these ancient iso8859 bitmapped fonts isn't really going
to go far in today's world.
- Motif would need significant changes -- to at least support some form
of widget scaling. And fo course, that would have to go hand in hand
with the above.
