Hi all,

someone on the Blue Obelisk [1] mailing list asked why Blue Obelisk projects,
like Jmol, OpenBabel, CDK, ... do not participate in the Google Summer of
Code... This person was just too late, to actually discuss why 'we' could not
have been one of the mentoring projects... we could have!

We could have possibly had access to funding for students!

Anyway, all is not lost...

A similar project has just started in the Netherlands:

  http://www.programmeerzomer.nl/

Only Dutch students can participate, and it needs a Dutch mentor, but while
now working at the CUBIC, I'm still Dutch :)

I can register for Jmol and the CDK, but please think about 3-month student
projects as example ideas. For all Dutch listeners: if you have a student who
might be interested in some Jmol and/or CDK work, and he still needs a summer
job for 3600 euros ...

Egon
