Hi all,

Because there is a growing confusion which questions on the CDK should go to
which mailing list, I want to say the following. Please don't take it
personally, as it is a general note to everyone.

Recently some questions were asked on the developers lists that were actually
messages supposed to go to cdk-user. They were not about hacking in the CDK
library source code, but more on how to understand the current CDK API...

Such questions, and their answers are of interest to all users, and hence
should go to the user list. The cdk-devel lists is supposed to be more on
project maintenance instead.

A few examples"

1. Discussion of the current API would go onto the user list.
2. Wether the CDK library should use ArrayList instead of Vector in some CDK
class, should go to the developer list.
3. Discussion on how to hack up some code that uses the CDK should go to the
user list

So, it seems to boil down to:

API questions and discussion -> cdk-user
API implementation, and project maintenance -> cdk-devel
API implementation testing -> cdk-qassurance (for completeness)

Somewhat on topic: as someone recently correctly brought up, when sending
email you may assume that cdk-devel members are subscribed to cdk-user too;
they should be. Therefore, you either send email to the devel list, or the
user list, but never both.

Egon
