Hi all,

with a full implementation of molecule rendering available from
cdk-1.4.x, finally the last bit of functionality set out for the CDK
1.4 series is available. Rajarshi already updated his rcdk package to
make use of it [0], and I hope more will follow soon.

>From now on, the cdk-1.4.x is in freeze mode, meaning that we increase
some rules on what commits can go into that branch:

* no API changes allowed (very rare exceptions allowed)
* bug fix patches *with* full unit testing for the bug, require one
review of a (senior) CDK developer
* new functionality is *most* *welcome*, but does require *two* reviews

Other than that, there is the normal:

* JavaDoc documentation must be complete
* unit testing as complete as possible
* no PMD warnings (complexity warnings can be acceptable)
* no OpenJavaDocCheck warnings

I will try to release 1.3.12 today, which can be seen as the first
beta. There is some work left to be done, including:

* fix JavaDoc compiling warnings
* update @cdk.bug statements in the JavaDoc
* ...

But, a 1.4.0 release early July seems reasonable.

Egon
