How much memory does the machine have? How much capacity of hard disk does it have? Is it okay to use Linux, instead of Windows or MS-DOS? System Requirements for OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/sys_reqs.html Is the machine bootable from CD-ROM with/without use of a floppy disk? If so, it might be worth trying one of the CD bootable Linux distributions, such as Knoppix, which includes OpenOffice.org.
