We are having a few hiccups in this process as a direct result of Oracle's takeover of Sun. They have decreed a change in the logo and other graphics, so the first problem is a lack of much in the way of graphics incorporating the new logo. The second is related to tradmark issues. teh old procedure (in the absence of a formal TM policy) was a case-by-case consideration. The new owner and logo has caused some probalems. Those who would normally approve or reject ([email protected]) have been left not knowing if they can approve requests, at least so far as the new logo is concerned, so the whole process has sort of stalled :( (the ones that normally would issue the approvals are afraid of being sued if they get it wrong). > it would be greatly appreceated if if someone could > point me in the right direction to gain permithion and the graphics to use, The email address I mentioned above ([email protected]) is the best place to start. Just be warned, however, that you may not get an immediate reply. Those volunteers monitoring the address have to have the time, and then have to wade through the spam to find the genuine requests. couple that with the problems mentioned above, and the delay is even more likely. From my POV, if it were up to me I'd just continue as it has been done in the past. Who cares if they sue me? I don't. It won't do them any good, as I have no seizable assets. Whoop-dee-doo! Ultimately, it is up to you as to how you proceed. If you are planning to get letter head printed up, then I'd wait, otherwise I'd suggest using the old logo for now, at least until the end of October, and then check back. Probably best to write to the address I gave though. Sorry I can't be of more help. > > regards, David Cantwell > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] > For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected] > -- Alex Fisher Co-Lead, CD-ROM Project OpenOffice.org Marketing Community Contact Australia/New Zealand http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/
