I don't know if it's relevant, but I've noticed that scrolling text
(i.e. directory listing or reading man pages or whatever) on the
console seems to hog the CPU. MP3 playing pauses and such. I'm using
the vesa console in 1024x768. This with 2.2.14, I never noticed if it
happened on older kernels too.
