hello~
Now that im finally on this list, please bear with my long tirade ( apparantly
i have been sending mail to the wrong place :P)
i am using kernel 2.2.16
Im having some difficulty with cdrecord, i have succsessfully installed the
scsi emulation into the kernel as modules, ie, a cdrecord --scanbus says:
cdrecord 1.8.1 (i586-mandrake-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2000 Jrg Schilling
Using libscg version 'schily-0.1'
scsibus0:
0,0,0 0) 'HP ' 'CD-Writer+ 7500 ' '1.0a' Removable CD-ROM
0,1,0 1) *
0,2,0 2) *
0,3,0 3) *
0,4,0 4) *
0,5,0 5) *
0,6,0 6) *
0,7,0 7) *
Originally, I was using gtoaster as a front end, and the error output looked
like this:

so! after reding ALL i could find, and not finding any information on that
specific error, i decided to try another frontend, seeing how gtoaster had
undecipherable default settings.. Now im using gcombust, which seems MUCH nicer
btw, and heres the scoop:

^^^^ i am assuming the error is due to the dummy write??? Anyone else know??? I
have had no prior trouble with dummy writes. I did, btw, have this ALL working
in a previous install ..sigh..
So then, thinking it was just an error in dummy writes, i proceeded to try a
real write with THIS output:

No errors !!! Except the cd is ALL static. No music, no nada, sounds just like
the TV at 430 am on a sunday :<
And do i ask, does anyone know what the earlier errors represent?? And lastly,
whats causing the static and how do i get rid of it????
Thank you so much in advance,
Cherie
