Maybe. If the kernel will mount your CD with the mount command, not
using -t to force any thing, then the mount command with no arguments
will show you what type of f/s the kernel thinks is there.
Ex:
mount -r /dev/cdrom /cdrom
mount
My guess is that it is a broken iso9660... You're not doing anything
wrong, they are.
