hi there... i hope someone can help me with an idea?
i am running RedHat 6.2 with kernel 2.2.14-5.0 on an AMD duron 600mhz, 128Mb of
ram. i have installed my cd-rewriter according to the prescription that is
available out there. with a cdrecord -scanbus, i get the following result:
------------------------------------------
[root@morpheus /root]# cdrecord -scanbus
Cdrecord 1.8 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2000 Jrg Schilling
Using libscg version 'schily-0.1'

0,4,0 4) *

-----------------------------------------
i have no cd-rom, only the writer, and i have the cd-writer on /dev/scd0. the
cd-rewriter is an Aopen 8x 4x 32x... everything looks good, right? right!
so, i tried to burn a data disc from an image... looks good, but when i try to
read it in my windows machine... nothing. also, when i try to mount the disc and
read it under linux, nothing also. instead i get this message:
-----------------------------------------
[root@morpheus /root]# mount /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom
mount: block device /dev/scd0 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: Wrong medium type
-----------------------------------------
i get this same error whether i create an audio or data cd. also, i get no errors
(none that are obvious to me!) from cdrecord when creating the cd. here is an
output of an attempt to create a data disc with one file on it. what am i doing
wrong? or does someone have any ideas i could try??
