Just got to know that a fellow got USB CDWriter (HP 8200e IIRC) to work with Linux and cdrecord! The cdwriter works as a USB Storage device and looks like regular SCSI to userland. A one-line patch was needed in kernel config to enable the inclusion of HP8200 in configuration interface. Kernel 2.4.1-pre3.
