It should be true as you said it.
However, I have crashed a CD due to underrun errors on my oldy machine
(at speed 12x).
It could due to firmware (1.05) burned in the drive when I bought it,
which is known to be rather buggy. I have upgraded it to 1.30 yesterday
but didn't try to burn with it, let's go for a stress plan for this
evening :)
