Hi, I've been using this burner for 1 year and a half (so the warranty has
just expired). It suddenly stopped burning data CDR but it still writes the
same data correctly on CDRW (Trust).
I tried different types of CDRs (Magnex and SUN) but no luck.
Both cdrecord, cdrdao and Nero seems not to notice any problem during the
process. However after the burning has terminated the resulting disk is only
partially readable. I get timeout errors while reading it and the
ATAPI device keeps resetting itself. A few files are readable but most of
them contain errors.
It never happened before.
I wonder why it still burns CDRW *perfectly*. I get no errors at all when
reading them.
I thought it might be a problem with the cd reader (asus 40x) so I tried reading
it with another cd reader but no luck at all.
The errors can't be in the files themselves, because I verified their md5sums.
I tried burning some audio CDs too. They were readable both by my cdrom and
my hifi, but some tracks were noisy (where the original .wav tracks weren't)
Any kind of help would be really appreciated.
I don't expect to receive much help from plextor co. since the warranty has
expired :(
Is there anyone here who has experienced similar problems?
