  I think that anything intended to be portable should use features
common to Linux, Solaris and AIX. That should make most packages also
run on SVR3 and SVR4, which includes most SCO, NEC and UNISYS systems. I
don't usually take pains to make scripts run on SysIII, although I can
do it if I must.

  But I would certainly use more instead of less, which has been
discussed here, because I know that less isn't everywhere and more
pretty much is. SVR2 used pg as the pager, and that's vanished (and NOT
missed).

  I wouldn't write off anything not Linux, much as I would like to some
days.
