Argh, do I ever feel silly now.  Yes, that CD had been recorded
already.  Recording on a blank CD works.

Perhaps cdrecord could detect this situation, and issue an error
message that says so?  "Invalid field in cdb" doesn't tell _me_ the
problem is the blank isn't blank...
