Actually, I wasn't looking for a replacement for cdrecord. I am new to
Linux, and was just curious about FreeBSD. Even thought about buying a
copy. 
However, since I have ATAPI hardware only and burn a few CDs once in a
while, I think FreeBSD is no alternative for me. BurnCD itself seems to
be rather limited (doesn't have many features and supports only a few
recorders). 

And there is no equivalent to SCSI-Emulation in FreeBSD, I guess?
