For now, this is a missusage of cdrecord (as you even see from the error
message).
Cdrecord does not yet support SAO/DAO recording for this type of recorder.
It is even questionable whether I ever will add this support because
99.999% of all units ever made are now defective. If I would like to add
support I would need to try to make one funcional drive out of three defective ones.
