Right, burn-proof is working at PLL level.

The Orange book standard allows gaps up to 100 �m and the very first burn-proof
implementations wrote a 40 �m gap. Today's implementations in Plextor drives
go < 2 �m which is about the size if one Pit.

Another note: with a recent drive, CD-writing is done in less than 3.5 minutes.
After the CeBIT, we will probably see even much faster drives.

If you write fast, even a OS with bad memory handling will not be a problem as
the time of discomfort is short.
