In many cases it helps to read the standard if you like to yoin a discussion.

Of course, /etc/shadow is not part of this information.

The information in defaults.h are required by the standard and
the command line switches are required to be known if you need to decide
whether a ISO Image is nonstandard because of a bug in mkisofs or because
the user wants it to be this way.
