About: cdrdao (sometimes, but not always) failing while writing audio discs... I have been having problems for the past several months when adding cd-text to my cd collection. It appears certain discs (about 20% (2 out of about 10 so far)) fail during the writing process using cdrdao. Interestingly, the failures occur at the same spot on a given disc (for instance, half way through audio track four). The failures occur even when cdrdao is simulating writing to a disc! Here is one other curiosity that bothers me, I can edit the cue file and remove the problem track such that (as I understand it) cdrdao will skip over it when writing. When I do that, the simulation finishes with out errors. Now for the interesting part, when I put the problem track back and remove the track before it in a similar fashion, the simulation finishes with out errors as well! How could the drive fail like that? It is as if two chunks of data separated by megabytes of data have an effect on how the drive behaves.
