Interesting, by no means am I able to give you an absolute answer to your
problem.  I have only casually looked at the source code with respect to some
changes to fix gap problems mentioned in a bug report on sourceforge.net.

Can you try something for me.  Edit the cue file and delete the first track and
check if this doesn't solve your problems.  If it does, go on and try to swap
the first and second track entry in the cue sheet.

I haven't finished trying different  scenarios, but I have found my setup
(RedHat 7.1 or 7.2, LG CD-RW CED-8083B Firmware Rev 1.05 or 1.06 and cdrdao
1.1.5) doesn't work on about 2 out of 10 audio CD so far.  Cdrdao keeps dying at
the same location on a given problem disk even if simulating a write.
Interestingly enough, if I swap the problem track with the one before it, I can
get all the track on the disk, out of order of course :-(.
