Referring to my last post, I actually had it happen to me, right now.
Referring to a brand new disk, being 'write protected'. Got TWO brand-new
CD-RWs (two seperate brands) and this is the output (the only difference
being the Manuf code):

Same errors on version 1.10, and 1.11a16.
Put a CD-R in the drive, and it works PERFECTLY.
Drive info is above, of course, this output is on RedHat Linux 7.2, kernel
2.4.9-21. SCSI drive (not IDE masked as SCSI.)
One disk is the HP brand, which reports:
- Manuf. index: 0
- Manufacturer: Illegal Manufacturer code
The other disk reports:
- Manuf. index: 11
- Manufacturer: Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation
Any ideas?
Later tonight I'll try the same test on a RedHat 6.2 system, with 2.2.4-14
kernel, with a Sony CD-RW CRX140S brand CD-RW drive.
Thanks!
Mike.
