This looks as if somebody modified code in the kernel open routines needed
for the /dev/pg* driver. However it may be, that there is a bug in libscg too.
But note: the correct behavior would be that if no /dev/sg* devices could
be opened any open error from /dev/pg* should make it to the user while 
otherwise only messages that result from permission denied or similar will
be shown as this leads to improper permissions of the calling process.
