I recently bought a Teac DV-W50E and while it works fine for most things, I can't seem to write VCDs with it from cue/bin files generated by vcdimager. The error message says the drive won't accept the cue sheet. Same thing with cdrecord and cdrdao 1.1.7, cdrecord output appended.
Now, writing the same bin/cue files in Windows with Nero 6.0.0.11 works, but I have to choose write mode as Disc-at-once/96 instead of DAO. After reading documentation and experimenting with cdrecord I ended up adding options -clone -raw96p to the command line shown below. Unfortunately those options result in the message "cdrecord: SAO RAW writing not yet implemented." So the important questions are, are my options correct and if they are, is this SAO raw writing a feature that will be coming soon? Teac doesn't have any newer FW available for the drive, although it would apparently be possible to install Pioneer DVR-105 FW on it, since that's what the drive is. cdrecord output: $ ./cdrecord dev=0,0,0 -v -dao cuefile=test.cue Cdrecord-Clone 2.01a18 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2003 Jörg Schilling TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM ./cdrecord: Operation not permitted.
